I don't think the issue with readers who are in the Harry-can't-kill
boat are concerned with Harry becoming a murderer.

We (I'm in that boat) don't want to see our hero become a killer not
because killing is bad because obviously sometimes it's good, but
because we want Harry to hold onto his last bit of innocence.
