It’s odd, I had the exact opposite impression. Look at the American
cover of GoF, as grim as that book is Harry still had a goofy grin on
his face. But not this time, this time he looks deadly serious,
utterly committed, and maybe even a little ruthless. If he is hopeful
it’s only is his ability to kill Voldemort not survive the attack. At
any rate after what the editor said we can be sure the series does not
end with “And they all lived happily ever after”.
