I agree with you that there would be nothing wonderful or noble about
Harry sacrificing his life, and nothing comforting about Harry
reuniting with his parents in the afterlife. I hope you're right that
Harry's willingness to die is enough.

 I also don't think Rowling wants to send the message that we should
all cheerfully embrace death, and not  shed a tear when a life is
tragically cut short at 17. However, I do think she's trying to say
something about bravery, self sacrifice, and death, and that she might
use Harry's death to say it.
