Well, here's what I think. I think the philosopher's stone 
is going to turn out to be more important than I had thought 
and will figure in the solution to one or more mysteries in 
DH.  Many people will have gotten there already, I don't doubt, 
but I had always thought of the PS as nothing more than the 
MacGuffin of book one.

The second thought that ocurred to me is the possibility 
of Dumbledore using the elixir himself, and the one 
or two other examples of wizards living into extreme old 
age being just instances of misdirection.  If Dumbledore 
began to die when the stone was destroyed (He was much 
younger than Nicolas Flamel, after all, and may have been 
able to last a few years longer), then the question of 
guilt for his death is moot.
