But it's not I SPY, or Sherlock Holmes. It's the classic Id, Ego, Superego combination, with the hero as the Ego. And in those combinations, it's common for the Id and Superego to form the stronger friendship, within their continual arguing. Ron, of course, is the Id and Hermione is the Superego in this. In Star Trek, we had Kirk as the ego, Spock as the Superego, and McCoy as the Id. In Lost In Space, Will waw the ego, the robot was the Superego, and Dr. Smith was the Id. Now, if it were a group of FOUR, then Harry and Hermoine would belong together...

Oh dear, that brings up a thought. Could Peter have betrayed the Potters because he was JEALOUS? Not of James getting Lily, but of Lily getting JAMES? (Note that there is no need to make it sexual, within the context of the books, at least).
