Minor correction: They are half-bloods, not "mudbloods." Each had a
witch for a mother and a muggle father.  In the case of Voldemort, I 
believe it's supposed to be irony.  As far as Snape, the rest of the 
Death Eaters may not even know.  They should know about Voldemort, as 
Harry shouted it at them in the GoF graveyard, if they believed him.
