Being fat is never considered to be a positive trait in the books, but it is 
often
treated as a negative one. The male Dursleys, Aunt Marge, Bagman, Umridge, 
and Slughorn
come to mind immediately as characters whose weight was associated with 
their faults.

Peggy now:  Molly Weasley appeared to be a bit overweight, and it's usually 
presented as an endearing quality (except when Draco comments on it).  And 
although it would be nice if The Fat Lady had a name, no one seems to think 
any less of her because of her fatness.
