Actually Snape and Voldemort were half-blood not mudbloods, cannon
describes mudbloods as those who are muggle born - i.e. both parents
are muggles, e.g Hermione and Lily, whereas Snape and Voldemort were
both half and half.
Although both Snape and Voldemort's obsession with pure blood is
ridiculous considering that neither of them had it!
