Geoff:
It's not really an alternate ending. What JKR has done is to expand a
little on what she wrote in the book giving slightly more detail about
Harry, Ron and Hermione and then something about Luna, Neville and
Hogwarts. She does say, however, that nineteen years on, McGonagall
is NOT the Headteacher.
