Goddlefrood
He knew about it from all the way back in PS, where this is
found:
"Harry, who was looking up 'Dittany' in One Hundred Magical
Herbs and Fungi, didn't look up until he heard Ron say,
'Hagrid! What are you doing in the library?'"
p. 168 - Bloomsbury paperback edition (This has been amended
in later editions to One Thousand Herbs and Fungi). In "Norbert
the Norwegian Ridgeback" - Chapter Fourteen.
Dittany's properties do appear to have changed though, as Carol
went on to say.
Should dittany be of real interest - particularly for the
botanists amongst us - a post of almost a year ago will
tell you almost all you may care to know, and possibly more.
