I doubt this. My own guess would be that Tom kept the diary among his 
personal effects at school, which is where it had (I presume) always 
been before it became a container for his memories and torn soul bit. 
Just as he wore the ring, as a schoolboy. We know he had it outside of 
school before his first fall, since in wound up in the unreliable care 
of Lucius Malfoy.
