Okay, but Dumbledore wasn't intending to let the poison kill him when
he took it. In order for him to die "on his own terms" he needed to
have the choice of saving himself, and *that* could be why he was so
anxious to make contact with Snape even after he knew that Death
Eaters were in the castle.
