Well, the "No-Apparating-in-Hogwarts" rule is not absolute. Remember,
DD lifted the enchantment in the Great Hall for the Apparition lessons
in HBP? It's possible then to lift Hogwarts' anti-Apparition spell, at
least for Apparating inside the castle. 

What I want to say is, that maybe in certain circumstances the spell
can be broken. Maybe the Vanishing Cabinet (being broken and all :-))
created some kind of magical anomaly around itself, so Montague was
able to Apparate when he was on the Hogwarts' side of the limbo :-).
And it's not like he did it easily and safely - you pointed out
yourself that he "nearly died".
