Doesn't it? I seem to remember that everyone except perhaps his own 
Slytherins regarded Snape with various degrees of dislike. Even Fudge 
was profoundly shocked by Snape's conduct! So would anyone in our 
culture who would witness that scene. Snape had the reputation of an 
unfair teacher – so he would in our culture. He was considered as of 
something of a bully – so he would be in our culture. As for *abuse*, 
I don't think that this is a correct term, but not because it means 
something different in the WW. I think it means something different 
in our culture.
