Geoff:
Interesting, Alla, the different interpretations we can put on 
something like this. I have always read this as meaning that 
Harry is 'new' to the school - i.e. a new pupil and nothing more 
sinister or hidden than that.

But I, like Winnie-the-Pooh, am a bear of little brain and far too 
often take bits in books at face value. I would never make a Holmes 
or a Columbo....
