Heh, well yes, it was pragmatic of him.  And quite smart in a purely 
tactical sense, for the reason you state.  Certainly, too, Voldy 
didn't have any compassion nor true any appreciation or gratefulness 
inside him.  So for all that, I shouldn't have been surprised that he 
did this; I just hadn't thought of it beforehand.
