Don't forget, Ron is the youngest of 5 boys all who have great skills
Bill is a curse breaker, Charlie is great with dragons, Percy was 
good at school
The above all got good Owls etc
The twins were not that good at school, but were great at making 
money.

Ron is also friendly with Harry who seems to come over to everyone
as special, so it is no wonder he feels insecure

He in fact is one of the best. He is loyal, brave, and a friend 
anyone would be proud to have, but he of course doesn't realise that
