He obliviated them though, simply because they look askance at him at 
the QWC. (Which was his fault incidentally.) He was also extremely 
high-handed with the Dursleys. Do you believe that he would presume 
to connect any wizarding fireplace to the network without asking them 
first? Nope, I believe the correct procedure would be to ask their 
permission to do so. After all it is their privacy is being invaded.
