OOOOOOO, Sirius. No, to answer your question I do not think that this 
is a large plot error on JKR's part. I believe that this is rather 
showing of what kind of "justice" system WW has and one of the 
reasons why I would never want to live in WW had this world been real.

Now if you will ask me whether Dumbledore's behavior during those 
events makes me want to strangle him and whether I think his behavior 
does not make whole lot of sense, the answer would be yes :)

But heee, Sirius had some parody of trial (IMO) without him being 
present that is.

Remember hearing where Dumbledore "gave evidence that Sirius was a 
secret keeper"? I am putting it in quotations not because I am 
quoting, but because it is clear that the evidence was not really a 
true evidence.
