It wasn't funny the first time I read it, as the whole situation was
so horrible, but later I found "Vernon Dudley" rather amusing,
because Harry is trying here to invent a new personality for himself,
and surely this new personality better be as far from Muggles as
possible, but the only names that come to Harry's mind are his Muggle
relatives' names :-).

I'm not sure I agree with you. Harry believed that Bella didn't know
*what* the Cup was, just like Lucius didn't know what the Diary
was: "I don't think he'd have told Bellatrix it was a Horcrux,
though. He never told Lucius Malfoy the truth about the diary. He
probably told her it was a treasured possession and asked her to
place it in her vault" (p.491 Am.ed.). Of course it's just Harry's
opinion, but I tend to agree with him :-). I think LV wouldn't trust
anyone, even Bella, with the knowledge of his preciousss Horcruxes.
