I think the concept of Apparition/Apparation was introduced in CoS, 
but there was no noun form there: "They know how to Apparate! You 
know, just vanish and reappear at home!" (p.69, Am.ed.) Wasn't the 
noun form used for the first time in GoF? I can't find it in PoA ;-(. 
It seems to me that it's Apparition everywhere, except for OotP, but 
there it's Disapparation, not Apparation. IMO, Disapparition would 
sound even worse than Apparition :-).

It seems to me they are the same in this respect, although I couldn't 
of course check every single use of the word :-).
