IMO if the PM had the ash analyzed, it would just be ash from
a carpet in front of a fireplace, nothing more.

You are right, a painting that doesnt come off a wall is VERY
FISHY in the real world.

The only reason Harry doesn't give Ron gold is that Ron is too
proud to accept it. Like when Harry gave Ron the omnioculars at
the World Cup, Ron gave him the leprechaun gold as payment, then
was angry to find it disappeared and Harry was left without that
gold.
