Zara:
I think it was Sirius too. When Lily decides to leave, both boys mock 
her. Then James trips Sev, and then someone says "See ya, Snivellus!" 
It makes sense that it is Sirius, because James has already taken his 
parting shot by tripping Sev. I believe this is what Rowling had in 
mind and therefore did not see the need to clarify.
