I think you've brought up some very good points that have really fit with the HP story. But speaking as a Christian, I personally don't mind a reference to a fictional character to a real person. So a Christ figure doesn't bother me. What does offend me is when a portion of the Bible is taught as literature. OK, I can accept the Psalms, they are poetry. But I once found a "Bible story" under literature in my child's lit book. Don't remember which one now. Nor would I expect writings from other religions to be taught as fiction, but as religion. (ancient myths aside.)
By the way, has anyone here seen the play, "Children of the Flood" before? If so, answer at OT.
