It is different, but (in my opinion) the reason Doge would do such a thing (ignore Rita) is that he has faith in Dumbledore. And he is encouraging Harry in this same belief.

It's not so much ignoring the bad ones, as choosing to believe that they do not matter. (In Albus's case, for example - the bad things Rita was writing about are things Albus himself regrets, and happened nearly a century ago. The guy was not about to recereate Grindelwald's regime in Harry's day, whatever Rita might want to suggest).
