I always thought of "Sev" being Lily's own personal name for Snape, 
and nobody else used it. I thought the name was very sweet.
 
Carol:

I think we were just focusing on different scenes and using a 
different term for "Snivellus" because we regard it differently. (I 
find it a mark of Sirius Black's continued immaturity, frankly.)

Marianne:

Didn't Sirius once call Snape "Snivellus" in front of the entire OOTP 
people?  Now that's immature.  A grown man saying that.  I can't find 
the spot in the OOTP book.  I can't even find my book.
