zanooda:

I've always thought Lily was not talking about the real DEs here, but
about Severus's Slytherin friends (Mulciber and Co) - *future* DEs
:-). Here is how it sounds: "You and your precious little Death Eater
friends - you see, you don't even deny it! You don't even deny that's
what you're all aiming to be! You can't wait to join You-Know-Who, can
you?" (p.675-676). Doesn't "you all" from the second sentence mean
those "precious little DE friends" from the first sentence? I can be
totally wrong about this :-), but anyway, I think it's quite possible
that Severus joined while still in school, but we can't see it from
Lily's remarks.

zanooda:

Yeah, in "Kreacher's Tale", when Wormtail is described on the
Marauders picture: "...flushed with pleasure at his inclusion in this
coolest of gangs..." (p.179).
