I'm new to this group, hello by the way, but in response to your last
question which is a very interesting one,,,in HBP, Dumbeldore makes a
point of saying more than once in fact that Voldermort, even as Riddle
in his younger years, was a loner. He surrounded himself with people,
but not friends. I believe he wouldn't want to go to someone's house
over their summer break, instead opting to return to the orphanage to
continue his mind games with the others there. He used it as a
training ground of sorts testing his magical skill early on before he
even knew he was a wizard, just when he thought there was
something "special" about him.
I'm sorry to nose in, that question just really caught my eye!!
