It's May, because when Harry went outside on the morning of their
Gringotts adventure, the weather was described like this: "The dawn
was chilly, but there was little wind now that it was May" (p.522). If
we are to believe JKR about May 2nd, then the Trio broke into
Gringotts on May 1st, although "now that it was May" sounds as if it
was May for at least a few days, IMO :-).
