Hi Michele! Harry's not the only wizard in glasses - Albus wears them
too, and I seem to recall mention of them in connection to some minor
characters as well. Perhaps the wizarding version of LASIK is not very
reliable.

As for divorce...why get a lawyer when you can brew up the right
potion? <g> Though, the same is true of the Muggle parents in the
story - the unhappily married Tobias Snape and his witch wife,
Hermione's parents, the Dursleys, and Mr. Finnegan (a Muggle who did
not even know his wife was a witch until they were married). I think,
really, the point is that Rowling (despite her own issues in that area)
was not interested in addressing it, so no "featured" family had this
problem and no minor character who is divorced was added because it
simply did not occur to her that people would be keeping track of all
these groups.

The Weasleys were supposed to be the loving family Harry never had, so
they would naturally be an intact, large, loving family. The Malfoys
serve, among other things, as an artistic contrast of sorts to the
Weasleys - Lucius's career mindedness vs. Arthur's support of the right
principles, and the4 different ways in which Narcissa and Molly go
about expressing their maternal protectiveness of their kids.
