Alla:

But Aaang was looking for a way not to kill Firelord, no? He was
actively searching for a way to defeat Firelord in a way that feels
right for him, that is in tune with his personality. I mean, sure he
did not know if he would be able to do it, I am not arguing with it.
My point is that Aaang is by nature pacifist, that is how he was
raised. Sure he wanted to defeat Firelord, but everybody everybody
everybody was telling him that he needs to get over it and just kill
Firelord, no? Aaang would not go against himself. I think Harry is
not a pacifist by his convictions at all, he just tried not to be a
killer by choice.

I am not convinced at all that Harry was sure that when he will say
Expeliarmus instead of AK, Voldemort will end up necesarily dead.

Possibly? Sure, but again, question of degree to me, as long as I
think that some part of Harry's mind believed that Voldemort *may*
survive, it is enough for me to consider what Harry chose much
harder. IMO of course.

Alla:

So basically you are saying that Harry said it for self indulgence,
right? As I said, I cannot disprove it, but I cannot buy it, I do not
think. Just seems to me that this confrontation is too important for
JKR to waste words like that. I mean, I am sorry, I do not mean to
say that it is your interpretation that if Harry said it to feel
good, it will be a waste of words. It is however, mine. I do not see
what statement this will make ( not like any sort of message, just
statement in the story) if Harry is just saying it to feel good about
what he knows is coming.

Alla:

Heh, we certainly agree on that Kemper!
