I never thought of it that way before. So, Voldemort assumes all the junk in the room was provided by the room as cover within which to hide his object. In a sense, the junk was camouflage to help hide his Horcrux.

That actually makes a lot of sense, and keep Voldemort's view consistent. 

Still, you are right, Harry figures out the truth in a blink.
