Oh, but I think Snape is the conflicted, unsung, tragic hero of the
series and possibly shows the "traits" of Slytherin used to their best
advantage. He knew the likelihood of it all ending badly for him in the
end and he played it the best he could, dispised by both the DD and the
LV sides of the wizarding world. He had but one overarching task, to
serve the memory of Lily and what she stood (and died) for the best he
could.
