Bart:
    Because, among other things, Morty had a tremendous ego. He could 
not imagine ANYBODY being able to block his leglimancy; from his point 
of view, he could even see through Dumbledore himself. Also, he had no 
understanding of love, and therefore could not imagine why Snape would 
convert to the other side.
