This is what I love about really good writing, like Jo's. She chooses phrasing and dialogue that can be read in a number of ways. So who knows what Ginny's parting gift--"Something to remember me by"--really was? It's fun to wonder :)
Has Jo ever said anything definitive on this topic in her interviews? Forgive me, I am new to the list and have much to read!
