long time member, first time poster

I am sure that someone has noticed this so could somebody point me to the right thread...

In DH The Prince's Tale chapter Snape is shown getting the instructions on the identical Potters from Dumbledore's portrait. How did Snape get into Hogwarts, specifically the Headmaster's office before the Ministry fell and he was put in charge of Hogwarts?
