That's very good to know.  I didn't realize JKR was using a real life model here.  I thought perhaps she was relying of schools from the 19th century or something.  In the US the schools can be very large, but the age range is much smaller. 
Do you think there are enough teachers at Hogwarts or are there more teachers we don't see?
