Bart:
     Re-read the part of the quote of mine I left. She was proving 
herself to, from Morty's point of view, proving to be more trouble than 
she was worth. Given Morty's personality as given, he probably figured, 
"Well, I made an effort. I'll find some other cutie for Snape to play 
with. He'll never know the difference, anyway." Trying to save Lily 
anyway would have been too much like work.
