I remember thinking, after finishing Book 7, "Why, all these books are
about Death, aren't they? Starting with the first one, even." Or
possibly more specifically, as another famous fantasy author said of
his work, they are about death and the desire for deathlessness.
Mind you, that is not *all* they are about, but it is certainly a
consistent theme throughout.
