     JKR portrayed Cooking Sherry as one who had a genuine ability for 
prognostication, except that she didn't trust in her own abilities. One 
of the telling moments is when she's going down the hall, reading the 
cards, comes up with a 100% accurate statement, then discards it as too 
ridiculous.
