Brian, the Slytherins were never confined to any dorms. They were just evacuated from the castle before everyone else. True, they were not offered a choice to stay and fight, like the rest of the school, but confined? No, they were *not* confined, on the contrary, they were sent out of the war zone to safety. And if any of them wanted to fight, he/she could always say "no, I'm not leaving, I'm staying and fighting for Hogwarts", right :-)?
