Spoiler alert from Deathly Hallows:
Ellie:
It's explained in Deathly Hallows in the memory Snape gives Harry when he is dying. Dumbledore had asked Snape to be the one to kill him when the time came, because he was already dying slowly from the curse from Gaunt's ring. Snape had argued with Dumbledore about it, saying he didn't want to kill him, or anybody. Dumbledore, I think, was begging Snape to please do what he had asked him to do, and kill him instead of Draco doing it, or someone else.

Still when I read last night I am left with the question. When Professor Dumbledore says please to Snape, is he asking for his life, or for his death? There are a lot of layers to the question, so I hope a few take a shot. Thanks, Kare
