History of magic in North america?

I'm wondering how the greater secrecy worked in practice.   

 - What happens if two NoMaj parents have a wizard/witch child?  Are they Obliviated after their child goes to Ilvermorny?  Seems kind of cruel (but I guess necessary under Rappaport's Law?)
 

 - Do/did all American wizards live in hidden Grimmauld Place-like houses?  I imagine that places like the Burrow have spells to nudge wandering Muggles around it, but in America I would think a wizard home either has to be completely hidden (if an apartment or row house) or have stronger spells than the Burrow's (if a free-standing house).  In modern times they would have to cope with drone technology and Google Earth!
