If pure canon, he got good attention from Tom at the Leaky (for a total of about 3 minutes, maybe) and Florean at the ice cream store (only adult in the books that actually took any time to be with Harry) and the occasional weirdo supposedly shook his hand when he was a small child out with his ?family? (which makes absolutely no sense, given JKR's later insistence that magicals seldom went into the Muggle world and the Dursleys' hatred of non-normal, so I am sure Harry got severely punished for letting some weirdo come up to him) but there weren?t any other times I can think of off the top of my head. He didn?t get fan mail (hate mail and howlers seemed like the only mail he ever got), he didn?t get any thanks other than having his house stolen for a memorial and a statue in GH (which seemed more of a state secret than a real memorial) and I can't remember any good press?and he may not have been ANYTHING to the rest of the world. (Cursed Child spoilers!) Message-ID: No: HPFGUIDX 193010 HP wiki has her birth at 1998, but it has to be prior to late March 1998 (the Skirmish at Malfoy Manor). Which means Bellatrix was likely already a month or so pregnant at the Battle of the Seven Potters (Jul 27 1997). (One hopes that broom-flying does not induce nausea in pregnant witches. Maybe there's a potion for that.) Interestingly, she was in her mid-40's for her first and only child. Despite what we were shown in the movie, Bellatrix was not at the Battle of the Astronomy Tower (Jun 30 1997). Perhaps Voldemort didn't want to needlessly put his progeny at risk. Although he didn't have this concern a month later, probably because they needed as many Death Eaters as possible. (and wasn't the movie Astronomy Tower battle the lamest ever? Bellatrix kicks over some plates, breaks windows, and sets fire to Hagrid's hut. All the Vanishing Cabinet scenes buildup...and then this. No Aurors vs Death Eaters in the hallways of Hogwarts. Such a disappointment.) Per the HP wiki, Bellatrix was living at Malfoy Manor with her sister Narcissa "by 1997", and Voldemort was staying there as well. I can't pin down when this started without my books though. She might have been living there in early 1996, after the breakout from Azkaban in January 1996. Perhaps she and Rodolphus has lost their residence during their stay at Azkaban, since they had been there since approx 1982.. At first I thought Bellatrix's pregnancy must have been uncomfortable for Rodolphus, but then I discovered their marriage was a platonic one. (wonder why she just didn't remain single?) One hopes that Voldemort did not have the bedroom next to Lucius and Narcissa. (Lucius: "My dear, we do not hear a thing...") kennyg1864 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Buy your ticket online early. Weekend time slots sell out quickly. 2. Check the train schedules carefully beforehand. Some of the trains are express (20 minutes) and some make many many stops (40 minutes). Ask at the ticket window in London's Euston station if you're not sure. 3. Take exact change (?2.50 each way per person, cash only) for the bus from Watford Junction station to the WB studios tour. 4. Even if you buy your HP tour ticket online, you still have to exchange the printed voucher for an actual ticket. So head for the outside ticket booth (or ticket machine) when you arrive, not the entrance doors. 5. Don't panic if you're a few minutes late. The timeslots are just to even out the crowds. We were 15 minutes past our timeslot by the time we arrived, but we were let into the line with no problem 6. It's pretty much a self-guided tour. There's a tour guide initially in the Great Hall (since you have only about 10 minutes in there until the next group is ushered in), but for the rest, you tour at your leisure. 7. Try to be one of the first in the Great Hall to be able to see as much as possible (and take pictures). To do this, sit in the first row in the theater beforehand. 8. After the Great Hall, there are two main buildings, with an outdoor exhibit in between. Budget about four hours or more total, since there is so much to see. 9. Make sure there is plenty of memory on your phone or camera--you will take lots of pictures. Familiarize yourself with the panoramic setting as several of the sets are quite expansive. 10. These are the actual sets and props, not replicas (several people there didn't seem to realize all of this stuff was actually in the films). 11. Remember to look up--there are more props stored above the main displays. 12. Feel free to ask the staff questions--most are big HP fans and love to talk about the exhibits. 13. There's a cafe just after the first building. The butterbeer is cheaper (?3, or about $4.50) than in Orlando ($6-6.50), and tastes the same. 14. All of the stuff in the gift shop at the end is available online on the WB store, if you don't want to carry your purchases all the way back to your London hotel. Of course, you don't have to pay online shipping charges if you buy at the gift shop, but you do have to pay VAT, so compare UK vs US prices on your phone if it's a pricey item. kennyg1864 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I was just there July 29 and agree with everything here. Especially about finding the 20 minute express from Euston where the first stop is Watford Junction. Your Oyster card (Underground travel pass) will work that far, but not beyond that station. We spent 6 hours going through the exhibits. Book a time at least 6 hours before closing if you really want to take your time to absorb everything. For an HP fan it is truly amazing to stand in the exact same Great Hall as Daniel, Emma and Rupert and all the rest did. OH: The online shop does not ship to the US! But there are services like forward2me.com http://forward2me.com that will help you with this. I may be trying this service out later this month. Message-ID: No: HPFGUIDX 193020 Although I suppose the real question is "As a wizard, would you eat a Chocolate Frog?" As a Muggle however, I would find it strange to eat something that appears to be alive (kind of like eating a live goldfish). A Chocolate Frog moves and flexes and jumps. A friend said she just thought of it as "enchanted candy" (which of course it is), so it wouldn't bother her. For me though, candy that moves and acts the real thing would increase the Ew factor. Another thought: offhand I can't think of any realistic animal-shaped foods. Chocolate bunnies, Swedish fish, and gummy bears don't really look their real-life counterparts. A chocolate bunny that looked realistic might bother some. Chocolate Frogs however are the same size and shape as real frogs (although brown instead of green). Or maybe if you grow up eating earwax-flavored and bogie-flavored jelly beans, then biting the head off of a pseudo-alive amphibian is no big deal. Despite all this, I made chocolate frogs (filled with peanut butter or apricot preserves) for DD's birthday party, and they were very good! ($5 mold on amazon) Very easy to make by microwaving chocolate chips. Would you eat a Chocolate Frog? kennyg1864 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I remember Ron saying "they only have one good jump in them" so maybe they stop moving pretty quickly. And maybe after they stop moving they look more like just candy. In the real world I got a chocolate frog at the Harry Potter Studio Tour. It's huge, hard to eat, and not very good chocolate. I was disappointed. A month later I still have most of it.
