I have often seen older couples sitting in resturants or riding in cars and not even talking or looking at each other. Well, we talk about the same things that you and your friends talk about: our friends, family, our days, interesting things we've read, funny things we've seen, movies we'd like to go see, our children/pets/plants, etc... Sometimes we don't talk, because we don't feel like it, or we're tired, or just because we don't have to. My husband and I can carry on an entire conversation without ever speaking a word. I'll help him memorize lines and vice versa. I'll try out new character voices with him. We'll have days when we speak "in character" more often than not. (I have one that I'm particularly fond of and she slips our *a lot*!) I imagine that a grown up Ron/Hermione or Hermione/Harry or Harry/Hedwig (well, maybe not Harry/Hedwig) would speak about pretty much the same things - but probably without the goofy voices.
