I've been lurking on the list for about a month, getting a feel for the topics and personalities. Having considered Dumbledore's look of triumph quite a bit, I thought I'd chime in with my own theory. JKR lays a lot of stress on the potential for rehabilitation--Dumbledore's greatness derives in large part from his ability to trust (wisely) that even the most apparently untrustworthy characters can change for the better. I have the feeling that, in JKR's vision, no character is completely irredeemable, perhaps not even Voldemort himself. By using Harry's blood, is V unwittingly infecting himself with some of Harry's goodness, as well as with the protection he inherited from Lily? On Wisconsin!
