Yeah, I know I'm a day early, but I typed this up on my home computer, and I didn't want to get to work tomorrow and have forgotten it. Therefore: Chapater Thirty-Four, PRIOR INCANTATEM Voldemort is back. Cedric is dead. Harry has just experienced the Cruciatus curse. He is dazed and the night was ringing with the sound of the Death Eaters laughter. And then Voldemort orders Wormtail to untie Harry and give him back his wand. Thus begins chapter 34. After being untied and given back his wand, Voldemort taunts and coerces him into a duel. Voldemort is too quick the first time, and Harry is hit with the Cruciatus curse again. When asked if he is in pain, Harry doesnt answer. Voldemort hits him with the Imperio curse, and Harry successfully resists. I WONT! he yells. Voldemort is not amused. The next round: Harry avoids being hit this time and hides behind Riddle, Sr.s tombstone. But he quickly decides to continue with the duel, because his father would have done so. He lunges from the safety of the tombstone to face Voldie. Simutaneously, they each aim their wands. Expelliarmus! Avada Kedavra! Red and green lights burst forth from the ends of their wands and meet in mid air. The light connecting the two wands becomes bright gold. Unexpectedly, both rise into the air and move further away from the watching Death Eaters. The land on a clearing and the light connecting the wands splinters off and covers them under a bright dome of light. Somehow, Harry hears the song of the Phoenix and knows that he must not let the connection break. It seems that Voldemort is going to win. Beads of light are traveling the length of the connection toward Harry. He concentrates with all of his might and forces the beads back toward Voldemort. As soon as they hit the end of Voldemorts wand, something amazing happens. Screams issue from the wand. Next comes a ghost of the hand that was made for Wormtail. Then comes Cedric. Then Frank Bryce who urges Harry to continue fighting. Here comes Bertha Jorkins, echoing Franks sentiments. (I am going to put in the correct order here): Next comes Harrys mother, Lily, and finally his father, James. They tell him that they will help him once the connection is broken. He must get back to the portkey, which will take him back to Hogwarts. Cedric pleads with Harry to take his body with him. Harry breaks the connection and the ghosts converge on Voldemort, giving Harry time to get away. Voldemort is shrieking at his followers to stop Harry. Hary is running out of time. Just as Voldemort is grinning his evil smile, Harry yells out Accio! The Triwizard cup flies into his hands just as he grabs Cedric and whirls back to the school. Voldemort has lost again. But he is back. Questions 1. Harry has beaten Voldemort on several occasions by now. Why then did Voldemort untie him and give him back his wand? Is he on drugs or just stupid? 2. Were the apparitions emerging from Voldies wand ghosts? If not, what were they and why were they able to speak to Harry? 3. We know that the Avada Kedavra curse is associated with green light. But what was the symbolism, if any, of the red light streaming from Harrys wand? 4. Do you wish that, even though the original wand order was a mistake, Jo had worked with it and come up with a reason for James emerging first? 5. Do you think well see Cedrics ghost at Hogwarts now? Trouble is, just because things are obvious doesn't mean they're true."
