>It *is* Harry's opinion and it is also *presented as* Harry's >opinion: >"Aunt Petunia often said that Dudley looked like a baby angel - Harry >often said that Dudley looked like a pig in a wig." (PS UK; p. 21) > >My point is not that Harry's opinions aren't given. Of course they >are. My point is that they are given in such a way that we easily >distinguish them from the facts (that Dudley really is very obese, >for instance). There are numerous other occassions in which situations and different things are described through Harry's eyes, as opinions and not facts. Staying on the Dudley topic, yes he is very obese. But why not just say that, or that "Dudley weighed 453lb." or whatever? Instead, he's described(and only the "pig in a wig" comment stated it was Harry's opinion, I believe) as the size of a small killer whale, a pink beach ball wearing different coloured bonnets, etc. I see those as being descriptions through the eyes of a boy, from his point of view. To me, it's how Harry would describe Dudley if, say, talking to someone on the phone and being asked to describe Dudley at different stages. But obviously we disagree, so let's agree to do so. Arguing further doesn't make anyone anymore right than another person. ~Echo _____________________________________________________________ Get your free mail --> http://www.gundamwing.org Comprehensive GW info, official info, galleries, translations, doujinshi, fanfics, multimedia, music and much much more!
