I've always wondered something...
As Dumbledore is so fond of Harry, and seems to know everything that goes on in the school, including Snape's picking on Harry, why doesn't he do something about it? In my opinion, it's quite unprofessional for a teacher to be so cruel to his students. Not only Harry of course, because everyone seems to be treated poorly save the Slyth's. But he's especially hard on Harry and his friends. Dumbledore -knows- that Snape hates Harry(as stated in PS/SS, I believe), so I find myself wondering why he doesn't have a little 'talk' with Snape about it. I just think it's really inappropriate. As I saw a couple other list members mention, I really don't think Snape is much of a -teacher- at all.
