Perhaps she's been around longer than Dummbledore and has tenure! Alos, she may be off on her predictions, but is good at teaching the technicalities of it all. Perhaps witches/wizards picka favorite form of divination (if they use it at all) and don't know much about other ones. Could be pretty hard to find an expert on ALL the techniques! Also, I'm sure Lockhart was shoved down Dumbledore's throat by the board of directors (or whatever). Then, in Book 3 they felt like they owed him one and let him hire the werewolf! AND, I think that Snape isn't allowed the DADA position because the board doesn't quite trust him yet and are afraid he'll get too into it and start recruiting for Big V again. Not to mention that the revolving door on the DADA teacher position is good humour and provides a bit of continuity. While we're on it, I think that Book 5 DADA teacher will either be Molly Weasley (empty nester whose husband works too many hours for the ministry & ala Spy Kids used to be a secret agent, Arthur too) OR it will be Mrs. Arabella Figg (doesn't need to stay near Privet Drive during the school year anyway). > > Subject: In Defense of Jewish Ravenclaws & "Why Excuse Snape" > > I wrote: > "I think the Jews are in Ravenclaw (if there are any..) - they have a > separate table." > > SpyGameFan wrote: > "You are treading a VERY fine line in your comments on Ravenclaw Jews > by the way." > > > So, as you defended those posts, I will defend mine. I think that SpyGameFan thought you may have been making a generalization about what house ALL Jewish people would be sorted in to. We know that Ravenclaws leading characteristics are to be smart. We don't know what Hufflepuffs or Slytherins are fed either, so maybe some Jewish people requiring Kosher dishes could be in either of those houses as well! Pavarti and her sister are in separate houses and they're twins, so we know that ethnicity does not come into play when being sorted, which is biggest part of the beauty of it! Everyone is sorted by what's in the head and not what societal labels they may wear! Kitty AKA Vicky Find the best deals on the web at AltaVista Shopping! http://www.shopping.altavista.com
